You may have noticed the new header picture on the website. That was a picture I took at Lake Shikotsu on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, last month. It is our Hermitage tent lit up by the setting sun. Don't let the picture fool you though, my sister is the real photographer in the family. I just get a lucky shot now and then. More pictures and information will be posted soon, once I get caught up on current business!
Happy to announce that we have two new items available for September! The Down T-Shirt, and the Max-Pax. These items will ship directly from Japan starting September 5th. There is also special introductory pricing on these items and the Perrine Pack for the month of September. During September, sales for everything but the AI-101 and wicking shirts will be direct from Japan. As the AI-101 and wicking shirts are only stocked in the U.S. at this time, they will continue to ship domestically. Once I return from Japan (new product testing/development, meeting with manufacturers and business partners, being a big goofy tourist, etc.), all shipping will return to the normal domestic routine. Thanks for your support!
In my never-ending quest to find camping and outdoor websites, I stumbled across two very nice ones recently.
The first is Camp Out Colorado, a very complete guide to enjoying the outdoors of that beautiful state. You can find a campsite, pick a good time of year, and even ask questions on their forum. The other site I found is Hiking Northern Michigan, started and run by the husband-and-wife team of Adam and Rhonda Greene. Avid hiking and camping enthusiasts, they offer a trail guide, photos, videos, and a hiking blog on their website. Those are just two great resources to help inspire you and help you plan your next outdoor adventure. I'll share more sites as I find them. Very pleased to announce that BB is now advertising on DaybyDaycartoon.com! Thank you, Chris Muir, for this opportunity!
Proud to announce that we're now a sponsor at CampingForums.com! Be sure to stop by and post any camping questions you may have, or any funny stories from your camping adventures.
Had a fantastic time meeting the great people of Damascus, Virginia, and the hikers trekking the Appalachian Trail. Through-hikers, section-hikers, day-hikers... got to meet and chat with some great souls this week. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our vendor table and checked out our products. Now it's time to update the website with the information requested by you, and spend some Skype time with Leader Gen to go over the ideas and recommendations suggested by you. Your input and feedback is important, and I'm grateful for the time you spent with me.
We'll have a vendor table set up at Trail Days in Damascus Virginia, May 18-20. All current and future products will be on display, so stop by and say hi!
Paul B. in the UK won the long-sleeve wicking shirt in the first drawing. Then he donated it back so someone on this side of the Atlantic could win it (he didn't want me to pay the expensive overseas shipping). We had another drawing, and Sam C. of Ohio won it. He is, as Paul would no doubt say, "chuffed to bits". :-D
Gale T. of Colorado won the grand prize, the AI-101 sleeping bag setup! He'll be using it during backpacking trips on the Continental Divide. How cool is that? The winners of the wicking shirt and AI-101 sleeping bag setup have been picked and notified. Just waiting to hear back from them for confirmation before making the public announcement.
In just three days, the total allotment of entries were filled (plus one), bringing the total raised for the Japanese Red Cross to $505! Thank you to everyone who donated!
